“Several emotional topics — such as drug addiction, abandonment, infertility and unexpectedly becoming a parent — are easily woven together without making the story feel crowded or overdone. Foster writes exceptional characters that keep readers thinking long after the book is finished… The dynamic members of the Whiskey family are the foundation that holds the group together and they are exactly the reason we’re taught not to judge. Let’s hope we hear more from all of them!” RT Book Reviews

Emotional read that the author carries you through drug addiction, rape, murder, betrayal, and loyalty.
Truman gets sent to prison for six years for a crime that his brother, Quincy, committed. Quincy witnessed the rape of his mother and killed the boyfriend. Truman decided to take the fall. Their mother lied on the stand about Truman. Truman would not tell the authorities the real circumstances.
When Quincy called Truman one night after Truman just got out of prison, Truman found Quincy high from drugs, his mother dead from overdose, and two small children, his siblings. Truman took the kids and tried to make their lives better. While in Walmart getting supplies, Truman meets Gemma, a young lady with problems of her own. Gemma took to the caring of the kids and helped Truman what to get the kids.
Truman and Gemma had an instant attraction between them. Truman didn’t think Gemma would want a man like him out of prison. Once he opened up to Gemma and told her everything Gemma and Truman’s relationship took on a different level of love and honesty.
There were many characters throughout this story that I loved like Bear, one of the Whiskey Brothers, Crystal, Gemma best friend, and the little ones Lincoln and Kennedy. This story wouldn’t let go. I’m ready to read more of the different characters.
