He’s tortured and dark, angsty and arrogant. You want the truth? He’s kind of an A-hole.
He’s also the CEO.

Everything in my life goes according to plan, and that’s the way I like it. I got the degree. I got the job. Now I just need to prove that I have what it takes to succeed in the real world.

If there’s one thing that’s not in my plans, it’s falling in love with my boss.

Most relationships don’t start with one person calling the other out in public for being an arrogant jerk. Then again, most CEOs don’t cut their own employees in line at the coffeehouse and bark orders at people like they own the place.

Maybe pissing Oliver Cody off isn’t the right move. And now that he’s part of my world, all my plans go straight to hell.

(Received ARC from Netgalley in exchange for our honest review.)

This was an enjoyable, emotional read. Oliver was struggling dealing with the death of his parents and finding out he was adopted. Oliver took time out prior to his parents’ death to “find” himself. He felt like everything was handed to him. He didn’t know what he wanted. Holland was a recent graduate who was second in her class trying to make her way into a position that was meant for a male. She had to take a sales position to work her way into where she wanted.

Holland and Oliver met at the coffee shop in the building where she worked. Hale aka Oliver was scruffy and unkempt. Holland remembers seeing Hale earlier upstairs causing problems. Holland needed Hale to help her with technical problems she was working on. She did not know he was the CEO of the company. They bonded. Chemistry was thick between them. Romance started. Oliver didn’t tell Holland who he was till the day they went to pitch the program to the client. Holland was pissed. She felt like he lied to her.

Oliver and Holland’s relationship is a proverbial roller coaster. I got frustrated with Holland with the needing to earn her role in life and then I get frustrated with Oliver first with his whiny tone about his adoption then when he didn’t stand by Holland.

This is a HEA but getting there was frustrating. I felt for each character what they were feeling and how do you navigate through life. Loved the writing and can’t wait to read more from this author.
